Ultraqueer
With QUEER PANDÈMIA and ULTRAQUEER, we want to promote a multitude of non-majority representations and diverse narratives: to introduce new written works and new images that can supplant those phallocentric and anthropocentric that have haunted and harassed us for centuries and millennia — on which our identities have been founded upon. In the struggles for political and identity assertion, we must not underestimate the power of narratives and visual culture in the processes of reconfiguring social arrangements.
2022 edition - Ultraqueer. Metagender Artistic Expression
ULTRAQUEER – Metagender Artistic Expressions is a transdisciplinary exhibition aiming at increasing queer representation in art venues. It began in 2022 with a large group exhibition in Palazzo Merulana, Rome. To delve into the essences of queerness, displayed artworks focused on themes of the body, sexuality, and identity, presenting local and international queer artistic expressions within an institutional context.

2023 edition - Queer Pandémia. Artistic Contaminations of An-other Kind
In 2023, we decided to shift our reflections by focusing on the contact point between queer identity and its relationships: tools, struggles, and new practices to invade spaces with, to contaminate affective relationships and mutate dominant aesthetic stereotypes — like a weed that creates new life as it passes.
Thanks to an open call dedicated to queer and LGBTQIA+ artistic practices, we created a dialogue that could accommodate a profusion of works and texts — as devices of queer experimentation. We gathered contributions from 46 authors and 250 artists, with the intention of showcasing as many identities and practices as possible. With the help of our partners exibart, Edizioni Tlon, BASE Milano, Libreria Leporello, CCO Mario Mieli, and Officine Vittoria, we chose to emphasize original creative languages and works that thoroughly researched the pluriform expressions of queerness.
